Project Overview
We were tasked with making improvements to the life insurance calculator on mutualofomaha.com. Our goal was to help people determine how much life insurance they might need without feeling overwhelmed. Once this need was established, we had the opportunity to guide them towards the correct product.
My Contributions
From concept to completion, I was part of this project. This included assisting with researching, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design, as well as pitching and presenting design solutions to stakeholders and clients.
Opportunities
The calculator was originally designed in sentence format. It made the calculator feel long and overwhelming. The page gets quite a bit of traffic but most users were abandoning the page or not completing the form.

Improvements
We changed sentence format to fields and removed unneeded inputs. Next, we grouped similar fields together that would help simplify the process of filling out the form. Based on the results of the form we recommended a coverage amount and appropriate product suggestions. We did several rounds of moderated user testing to get to the final result. In the end participants felt that it was user friendly and liked the column format. They commented that it reduced scrolling and that they could see more of the page all at once, making it faster to complete the form.
